Beautiful warmth…
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010The snow storm has finally left Europe but it’s still really cold. I close my eyes and see red brick walls covered in swatches of raw silks glowing in exotic hues, the softest Spanish merino wools and a comforting smell of leather lingers in the air.
These are my memories from Gwendolyn’s studio where I worked as a assistant years ago. She makes beautiful winter hats by hand. She only uses the most luxurious of materials. The level of care that goes making these hats is something you don’t often see. I swear each hat has a soul.
And Gwendolyn herself seems to come from some calm, ancient place. I always walked out of her studio with colors and textures swirling around my head.
